Survivability of C-27J Spartan

Print

The C-27J has outstanding threat avoidance capabilities, including a take-off ground run of about 1,900 feet at maximum take off weight on an unpaved surface. In a tactical environment, the aircraft is capable of climbing to 10,000 ft in 3 minutes, descending from 10,000 ft in under 2.5 minutes and can handle up to 3.0g forces. At maximum landing weight, the C-27J has a ground roll of less than 1,115 ft.

Unparalleled Survivability

Designed for harsh operations, the C-27J Spartan features redundant systems, Mil-spec designs, and built-in self protection provisions. The aircraft can also support a multitude of aircraft survivability equipment ensuring commonality with existing force requirements.

• Damage Tolerance:
All critical systems are redundant (hydraulic, electrical, ADS, avionics, displays, controls)
Three-spar construction
Oxygen for crew and cargo hold in case of depressurization
Fuel jettison capability
OBIGGS, anti-deflagration fuel tanks
• High Power-to-Weight Ration:
Rapid acceleration/deceleration
Rapid climb capability
High speed capability with rear ramp down (180 kts) or with the aircraft just above ground level (260 kts)
• Superior Tactical Maneuverability:
Low stall speed (80 to 90 kts)
Low level flight to avoid detection
High roll rate
Tight turn radius
• Excellent visibility through 16 cockpit windows
